Can anyone help........

My DD has had Chicken Pox for a week now. I have been bathing her around 3 times a day with bi carb then covering her in Aqueous Cream.

Yesterday in the bath while washing DD i noticed that she has a light rash all over. Its not red, its the same colour as her skin, Like goose pimples all over.

Is this normal with chicken pox?
Should i stop covering her in Aqueous Cream?

Any advise welcome

Could be a viral rash - just one of those things they can get when they've had a virus. I don't know if it's common to get one after a rashy illness though.

Is she recovering from the chicken pox OK otherwise?

Thank you, you've made me feel better

She has been so good with the Chicken Pox, You wouldn't know she had it really - still running around - dancing to the tweenies etc lol. Its only the sight of the spots giving it away lol.

She hasn't really been itching either

Im just waiting for me to get it now I haven't had it I feel like i've got the flue, been told thats not a good sign

I think im going to stop putitng the bi carb in the bath water, see what happens

totaldream, I cant help with your rash question but just wondered how your dd was coping.

ds is covered in spots on his body and 'bits' but has none anywhere else, and theyre not itching, in fact he doesnt seem ill at all.

just wondered what your experience of CP has been like?

WigWamBam · 15/02/2007 15:34

Oh dear - it's very infectious, chances are you'll get it too. Fingers firmly crossed for you, though!

I found that the best thing to ease the itching when dd had it was Benadryl - both the cream and the syrup. The anti-histamine eased the itching far better than anything else did.

Bicarb in the bath didn't help her either, but oatmeal did - just tied into the toe of some tights. Although if her itching isn't too bad maybe she doesn't need anything in her bath at all, and maybe she doesn't need the aqueous cream either.

Just a thought (probably a very stupid one but never mind) ... is the goose-bumpy rash there all the time? Is there any chance she was just cold and it was goose-pimples?

Hi mosschops30 I was so worried when the nurse said yes she has chicken pox, but she has been a dream with it, the same as ur DS.

Ive been the one itching and i've got flue (no spots yet though) lol

I think we have been really lucky i was expecting screaming, glove covered hands, head to toe spots etc.
DD is not coved - they are spread out all over. I say to DD "taptap" when she does go to itch the 1 on on her wrist that she seems to notice now & then, but we say "taptap" and she seems to stop

Hi wigwambam, Yeah im so worried about catching it as its ment to be really bad for adults. I am a single mum so will have to rely on my mum and dad if im really ill with it, i know mum she will take time off work & stay with us - i'll feel really gulity.

A few people have advised oatmeal, might try it tomorrow i think.

LOL yes the goose pimple type rash is there all the time LOL
I 1st noticed it yesterday middayish & its been there eversince.

I've stoped adding the bi carb to the bath today, but am going to continue with the Aqueous cream as DD seems unaware of the sopts after we put it on (So cute DD helps)
