I feel so tired and Ill still and wondering when I can expect things to improve

Thanks anyone that can help x

Apart from two major conditions what with the pneumonia and sepsis, which will take their time to recover from, you'll have been sent home well enough to not be in hospital (possibly only just!) - not sent home better, if that makes sense. Plus any moving around will be more than one does when in hospital, or it is when I've been in, so everything seems to take its toll. It's hard not to have the mindset of I'm home so I can do normal things.

I spent more than a fortnight O2 dependent with pneumonia in hospital a few years ago, and to be honest - yes I was very breathless for months afterwards. I was a mild/moderate asthmatic before and after became more severe - for a while. I barely had enough energy and breath to do the most basic activities of living. Walking took ages and my body noticed very mild uphill gradients that I had never before been aware of.
Take things very slowly - literally one step at a time. Choose food that is nourishing but easy to eat ( and cook) such as scrambled eggs, cottage pie baked beans and soup. Once you are able to cope with daily living, (not yet) and your lungs are working better (they are likely still rather soggy and inefficient after being so ill) you can start to do more. I literally started ( months after leaving hospital) with walking very slowly to the park (opposite our house) and back via a long rest on the bench. I built up slowly week by week to walking around the park.

I was off work for several months and the occupational health specialist told me I should not go back to work until I was well enough to trot for a bus (without fainting) ! I returned long before that - on a staged return-- sooner than advised- it was a year before I was back working full days! The specialist also told me that for every day I spent in hospital, I needed to think in terms of at least a week per day (18 weeks) before I was well enough to work, and it would be at least a year before I was feeling fully fit again. It was helpful to know this as I was getting fed up with the slow recovery.
People are let out of hospital nowadays once they no longer need medical intervention such as oxygen and drips. The theory is that people recover faster in their own beds. Its still early days for you.
Take things slowly, but see your GP if you are worried or urgently if you are too breathless to talk or eat.
x

Thanks so much everyone - the insight is invaluable.

I've had a couple of much better days but today the fatigue is terrible and the pain in right lung is worsening :(

I hope today is a better day again, but if not don't be afraid to call the dr. I had to learn to pace myself - it's too easy to overdo it on a better day.
Take care.
