Should pregnancy be this painful?

This is my first. Nearly 16 weeks. In constant twinging achey pain with at least 30 times a day - if not more - sharp searing pains. I woke up yesterday to an extreme shooting pain that seemed to travel up through my vaginal canal, through my cervix and into my womb. It lasted for about 15 seconds. At my scan they found a fibroid of 3cm. I keep checking for blood and irregular discharge - but nothing.

Should pregnancy be this painful? Any advice on how to stop it?

Would appreciate any learned opinions as this scared first timer is just that - scared.

Sorry I'm no help but I had to comments as I'm having these pains too at 15 weeks. This is my second and I was not in pain the first time around so it's worrying me!

Did you go for a scan due to the pains or did they find the fibroid while you were having your routine scan?

They found the fibroid at the routine scan.

All this pain is really quite draining, isn't it?

Sorry, I thought it was related to severe vomiting and headache and heartburn that I experienced during my pregnancy. I didn't experience such pain but it is recommended to see your OB immediately even though you don't see any discharge. I hope you'll be well and have a healthy and safe pregnancy.

I had this too but not as severe as yours. The pain would come out of nowhere and made me jump off my seat a few times! I also had SPD but am not sure if that had anything to do with the pains. My midwife just said they were normal.

Ahh.. funny you should say that.. That was mentioned by my Osteopath. She said my round ligament was involved with my back problems and that it could be SPD. Maybe I should get a confirmation on that...

I've had two children and neither pregnancies were painful. Uncomfortable on times but not painful.

My midwife told me it's the ligament pains - feels like someone is stabbing you upwards, and also side pains - was definitely worse with my first child too. The uterus does grow 500x bigger so it's going to mean stretching pains

I remember having that two with my first child and was told ligament stretching too. The midwife at the time recommended that i do pregnancy yoga, but TBH I can't remember if it helped.

I don't remember it being a major issue and I didn't get it with DC2 and DC3, although it was replaced with loads of braxton hicks with dc3!
