Ds is almost 4. I noticed a rash two weeks ago on his tummy, chest and back. It looks like pimples, a couple have yellow heads, but most just look like spots. They are around 3mm across and don't blanch when you put a glass on them. There is about a square inch between each one. They weren't itchy until today - however his ezcema is bad today (in his joints and around his mouth, so it could just be all of him is itchy.)

Ds has so many rashes that clear up by themselves that I didn't worry too much to start with - but I guess I should take him to the Dr now?

has he had the usual notifiable diseases, does it look like one of these...

tbh I think you're best off getting him seen, last thing you want is for them to get itchy and him to be really uncomfortable

He has this:

"Superficial staphylococcal folliculitis is quite common and is seen in people of all ages. It is probably more common in those who have eczema."

Trouble is the specific antibiotics that would be excellent for it contain colourings.

AM assuming you have explored all the natural products (if any) eg homeopathic, naturapathic etc...

I'm going to use tea tree oil as the articles I have read suggest washing in anti-bac cleanser - which I don't think we can do because of the drying qualities that would possess. He has topical antibiotics, but he has over 200 spots, so that takes a while 3 times a day!

I now have one on my leg - oh deep, deep joy.

OH dear!!! Not you too!!!!

Good luck with dabbing 300 spots lets hope yours are limited to one...do you react to the colourings as well or could you take the oral antibiotics if need be?

nearlyfourbob · 15/02/2007 07:34

I'm allergic to penicillin!

Bother I actually knew that too! Hope the tea tree oil works in that case

It definatley sounds like infected hair follicules to me. My daughter had them and the doctor didnt even know what it was lol.My daughter used to get it alot when we wet wrapped. always little puss filled spots that sometimes went firm and painful. Caused by staph aureas a bacteria thats comonly all around us that causes infected excema. Our dermaltologist told us what it was finally at our 6 mthly appointment. They gave us the simple antibiotic cream fucidin for her. Can also have your noses swabbed lol like us. family outing! If you carry it they can give you a different cream to eliminate it from your nose!! Saves your child repeated infections. she carried it aswell as her dad. Funny when we all marched to the doctors.
