Blurry spot in centre of vision

Wondering if anyone has any experience/advice. I've had a brief Google but haven't found anything particular useful.

The last few days I've noticed a recurring visual disturbance. It's a small blurry spot in the very centre of my vision. It hangs around for a while and then I stop noticing it so I guess it goes. Then it comes back. It's not a huge disturbance but enough to be bothersome.

Once or twice I've had a larger black spot appear but I don't know if it's linked to the blurriness or just a coincidence.

Does anyone know if I need to be worried? Any visual thing and I immediately start thinking about neurological issues like MS.

And also, is it worth a trip to either optician or GP and if so, which one? I'd be straight down there usually but I have an 8 week old baby who makes attending appointments difficult so I'd rather not go unless I really need to.

strange you have a baby actually, i experienced the same thing last year a couple of months after giving birth. i got white flashes too.

i went to the gp who couldnt see anything so was referred to enat at hospital. had 3 appointments there that proved there was a blind spot but they couldnt see anything so it was put down to visual migraines.

funnily enough i did go on to experience a full on visual migraine about 4 months afterwards.

it did just slowly improve.

tbh though, i would see your gp, just so they can have a look and put your mind at rest.

Thanks wowee. I did wonder if there might be a link to pregnancy/new baby (even if just tiredness rather than anything more complex).

I had similar and my Dr said to see my optician. I managed to get an emergency appointment and he put drops in and had a good look at the back of my eye. He said it was nothing untoward ( bit of vitreous jelly that had come away inside the eye and was dangling in front of the retina ) but referred me to a specialist just to be sure who confirmed it was nothing to worry about.
