I'm 42 and for a quite a few months been having heavily periods. This month however no period which was weird, due on 2 weeks ago and nothing. Today however started bleeding slightly. I am currently waiting for my smear test results to come back and went to my GP a week or so ago as concerned with heavy periods and she did some blood tests - all clear. Tomorrow I'm going for a pelvic scan. But today now I have this bleeding I am petrified. I'm so scared and upset that I have cancer and have googled my symptoms and convinced myself - I know that was silly. Pls hand hold someone Sad

Great news! It'll be the fibroid causing the erratic bleeding. Annoying but benignSmileFlowers

Great news trouble , so pleased for you. Flowers

Owllady · 21/10/2016 19:06

:)
Bloody fibroids!

troubleatmill2011 · 21/10/2016 19:36

Thanks all! Yes i think my fibroid has a lot to answer for, also going to the toilet frequently it seems! I am just so relived it's not anything nasty Grin

Great news to start the weekend with. Have to say 8cm is impressive! No wonder you had symptons.

troubleatmill2011 · 21/10/2016 21:10

Consultant said it was a good effort, some are sizes of footballs apparently!! Who'd be a woman eh?! Confused

Owllady · 22/10/2016 17:30

Yes, who'd be a woman! It's such a common problem too

troubleatmill2011 · 22/10/2016 19:06

Totally. I really don't like the thought of it being inside my womb, freaks me out a bit. I am trying to remember the consultant said it was nothing that couldn't be sorted and my GP will discuss options.

Have you been refered to a gynecologist?

38cody · 23/10/2016 02:11

I though my periods had stopped - none for two months, then really heavy and every 3 weeks - now normal again. Don't know - feel okay now though but was a bit worried but presumed menopause.

troubleatmill2011 · 23/10/2016 08:00

Hi Owl not yet no, just been told to go back to my GP as next steps, perhaps my GP will?

Cody - sounds a bit like how mine are now! I'm 42 and wondering whether peri-menopause is being chucked in for good measure too at the moment.

Who'd be a woman in their 40's!

Yes most probably, you are a few steps behind me on the gynae conveyor belt :o
When I went in for my hysteroscopy every woman waiting in the other side rooms were of our age too! Isn't it weird HOW nobody talks about it?! I suppose at least having places like mn etc you know how common it is

Owllady · 23/10/2016 09:58

In fact the ward should have been called born in the 70s

0ellenbrody0 · 23/10/2016 10:01

Same thing happened to me, periods 'normal' for many years (I'm 44) then heavy and haywire.
Blood tests revealed nothing particular, pelvic ultrasound revealed a fibroid in an awkward place. Nothing sinister and periods settled again so just going to leave be.
I'm sure it's something similar OP.

troubleatmill2011 · 23/10/2016 16:48

Owl - think your right about the ward name Grin. It's definitely the unspoken, I wonder who many people I know in RL who do have this but we're too British to talk about it lol.

Ollen- thank you for replying and it does sound familiar, do you get pelvic discomfort / pain etc?
