Constant burning sensation down below

I'm currently waiting for an appointment with a uro-gynaecologist but would really value any insight from other people if you have had similar experiences. I'm not unduly worried as this has been going on for 3 months now and hasn't actually got worse (although not got better either) and my GP tells me there are no 'red flags'. It all started when I had what I thought might be a bladder infection, had pelvic pain, burning when passing urine etc. Had a short course of antibiotics and it got a bit better but the stinging sensation down below didn't resolve. I can pass urine without any pain but have a constant stinging/burning sensation that feels like it comes from my urethra. Nothing seems to trigger it or make it better, have tried cutting out all alcohol, caffeine etc to no avail. I had a pelvic scan which showed pelvic adhesions, some endometriosis, uterine fibroids and varicose veins of the uterus. My GP seems to be unable to tell me if any of these could be contributing to my symptoms (hence referral to gynae). The adhesions are from pelvic surgery but haven't been particularly problematic, had no idea I had endometriosis and didn't even know that what show up on a scan. I should mention that all swabs for infections have been clear and I've been told my cervix looks healthy and last smear a year ago was fine. Urine sample from lab also came back clear. Anyone else with any of the above problems had similar symptoms? It's starting to drive me crazy, I just feel so sore down there (not sore to touch at all though) and the stinging is making me so uncomfortable. I'm starting to worry I'm going to be told it's all in my mind which would be awful as I am sick of feeling so uncomfortable! Any advice or similar stories would be very much appreciated. Sorry for long post.

I know this is an old thread, but I've been looking everywhere for someone else experiencing the same symptoms, and this is the only thread I've found that sounds bang-on! (Like the OP and some others, I also thought maybe I had a UTI, had treatment for that, but tests keep coming up negative and my only symptom is constant burning/discomfort in the area of the urethra -- I have no issues passing urine without pain, no urgency, and no other symptoms except for the constant burning/discomfort for about 4 months now.)

I've been tested for everything under the sun by my GP, and am waiting appointments with some specialists currently.

In case anyone else with this issue digs up this thread in the future, I wanted to share that taking a daily vitamin e supplement seems to help minimize the burning sensation.

I have the exact same issue and I'm 37 too. I recently had a cystoscopy and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. It's a bit miserable. I really miss drinking wine!!

Do you have any bladder pain or burning when passing urine? I don't have any of these and I was thinking that definitly is not ic. I only have a burning coming from urethra which some days is better than others. Have you find anything that helps or you have any advice?

I have the exact same thing now. I had a bad uti ended up on antibiotics. However as I have the constant burning/ stinging and throbbing around urethra /clitoris area they kept giving me antibiotics. I had 5 courses ( all different) which included metronidazole for BV which I may not have even had as this was based on a boots self intimate test! I sent in urine ans apparently they were clear, my swabs were clear but they kept giving me antibiotics due to my symptoms. I ended up going to hospital and out of hours due to this Constant twanging which is the only word I can use to explain it. I ended up seeing a urologist who told me all the antibiotics I have taken over the 6 weeks holidays have stripped my vagina of the bad bacteria but also the good and that's distastourous for a woman! I'm not allowed baths, fizzy drinks. Gotta drink loads of water and take showers no perfume products to be used down there. I also had a ultra sound that's all ok. I'm on waiting list for a camera which I'm hoping I won't need. Can anyone tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it will go away. One lady said she had it for 4 months and it went away on its own. I'm going insane. It's so strange to read a post where many other woman have the exact same problem so I'm hoping they found a cure x

What age are you? There is a thing in menopause where there is a burning type sensation especially at night.
If you do any exercise, stop it for a week and see if that helps. Especially if you run, or do anything that affects pelvic floor.

I am 39. I was totally fine until I had that uti and all them antibiotics. The feeling is all the time. Helps a little if I put a hot water bottle down there. If it's due to lack of bacteria I wasn't given a time line. It needs to go soon, 24/7 is too much. Worse when I've been on my feet alot, always need to sit or lay to try and ease it

I have the exact same symptoms of stinging burning around the urethra and no infections found. I'm awaiting urology referall BUT my own research makes me think it could be pudendal neuralgia which is nerve pain down there. God knows how its happened but it fits my symptoms. Worry is though, that its neurological. I need to suggest this to my doc but feel she's sick of seeing me (a person who moans they're in loads of pain...but with her seeing zero signs of it when she examines me or my pee). 😥

Starlock79 has yours gone now or do you still have it. Mine is rolling into mon the number 3. I was debating is its pudendal neuralgia after had uti as I had lots of antibiotics but that's me guessing. It's a very raw feeling hard to explain. Is there light at the end of the tunnel please say yes before I loose my mind
