What do I do, URGENT

It's 3rd day of my new job and I've woken up with tight chest, hacking cough, nose streaming and diahorrea.

Plus, on top of that, my 7 year old has woken with the same, minus diahorrea.

What on earth do I do? I work in a kitchen

Phone in sick. You have no choice.

LoveMyGirls · 07/02/2007 07:15

you cant possibly go in, its bad luck its your 3rd day but how can you go and work in a kitchen like this?

Radley · 07/02/2007 07:18

That's what I thought, looks like I won't have a job for much longer

Phone in sick. Get an emergency appt at the docs - and get a note to say that he has seen you (he may even sign you off).

At least you have your backside covered if there is any comeback.

LawdyMissTutter · 07/02/2007 07:20

agree, don't think you have any choice

unfortunate timing, but sod all you can do about it

WWWCampbellBlack · 07/02/2007 07:24

agree, you can't go in, risk of infecting other people. It's just bad luck. Grovel if you feel it's appropriate.

jalopy · 07/02/2007 07:53

Diarrhoea and kitchen - not a good combination. A sick day is a must.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/02/2007 07:55

You just can't go

if i were you i would drag yourself into work so everyone can see how bad you are and they will send you home.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2007 08:27

i would not want someone w/diahorrea working in my kitchen.

phone in.

DO NOT DRAG YOURSELF IN WHEN YOU HAVE DIAHORREA AND YOU WORK IN A KITCHEN! YOU COULD POTENTIALLY INFECT SOME REALLY VULNERABLE PEOPLE (the elderly, children and babies, pregnant women, etc.)

throckenholt · 07/02/2007 08:34

ring them and tell them you have a sickness bug and don't think it is safe for you to be working in a kitchen today. They of all people should encourage such a responsible attitude.

LunarSea · 07/02/2007 09:04

And even tell them that you feel really bad that this has happened so soon after you started there, when you're not often ill, and can imagine how it must seem to them. More likely than not they'll symathise with the situation you're in.
