Hi all, my first op here so hope I've done it right Grin

For the past 7 months I have had diarrohea every single day without fail, some days it is 5 times a day other days it's up to 15 times again. I have nausea, vomiting, aching limbs, sore muscles, acid reflux and extreme tiredness.

I went to see my gp 7 months ago when it started and he sent a stool sample off for a virus- came back clear. 2 weeks later another sample sent off for calprotectin- came bag negative. He referred me to the gastro specialist and I finally have an appointment this week- 7 months later!!

In between the time I have been to see 5 other doctors, - trip to a & e and I have been told so many different things, colitis, crohns, virus, ibs, nothing wrong at all.

My blood test results from a few weeks ago show
Vitamin b12 definicency
Folic acid definicency
High platelet levels
Inflammation
And an internal virus

I have been waiting for so long on the gastro appointment I have started to loose hope and am starting to worry they will think I am wasting their time.

Just hoping someone else has been through this and can give me some advice/ some hand holding/ an idea of questions to ask at the gastro appointment

Bonkerz- the exhaustion is the worst bit to be honest. The fact that I can only keep bread down I can deal with but exhaustion and work is awful.

I am indeed happy it isn't crohns or ulcerative colitis. I just want answers. Seems to take a long time on the NHS sadly.

The consultant hasn't arranged an appointment with me yet. I'm assuming when the results come back he will call me for an appointment to discuss what is next? Well I hope so anyway

Phone your GI consultant in about a week for the results of your biopsy - or even friday. It will probably come through fast - if there is nothing to worry about (sorry about the insensitive wording) then they may not get in touch with you.
sorry it was such a horrible experience - fingers crossed that you have a diagnosis in the next few weeks.
im sure the nurse thought she was doing you a favour (insensitive weetch)

Johnstonbananas · 18/10/2016 07:18

Redken, you are right the nurse was trying to be nice. Just when you have pinned all your hopes on them finding an answer it is frustrating.

I'm also quite annoyed that because the sedation didn't work they couldn't finish the endoscopy, or take biopsies from there. They know my oesophegus is inflamed but they couldn't get past it to see anything else.

I got a hospital appointment letter in the post for the followup appointment with the GI, thats when the biopsy results were discussed and my first lot of medicine prescribed, I assume youll get something similar.
My symptoms were a lot less severe than yours though!

Redken24 · 18/10/2016 13:30

Well dont give up hope on your diagnosis - I reckon you will have some things ruled out by the end of this week

Johnstonbananas · 18/10/2016 14:24

I am very glad I will have some things ruled out but I just want answers. It's been 8 months of constant diarrohea, bleeding, nausea, constant pain, exhaustion, aching joints and weakness on my left side. My eyesight is getting worse and my teeth are sore, constant boils, ulcers and all the rest.

I have a list go symptoms as long as I am and I'm 5'10 ha! I am just feeling really sorry for myself.

I really appreciate the replies. It has been really helpful to know people have advice and care.

If anyone else has any advice please let me know. I have starred trying the FODMAP diet while I wait on appointments with my GP and GI.
