Cracked Heels - Disabled Son.

Can anyone pls advise on how we can sort my sons heels out? They are not in this state because of neglect. It's just that due to his general condition his feet are really difficult to take care of. He uses medication that causes sweating and a combination of other factors mean that quite often they become like this rather suddenly. We used to see a chripractor who's since left the country we live in but all he could really do was file them a bit then paint some brown stuff on them. The large crack in the picture was not there yesterday after we cut his toenails etc and scrubbed his feet.

He came to me just now, said ouch, and punted to his feet. I'm at a loss as to what to do next and I hate him suffering.

Thank you

Gold Bond do an intensive moisturiser specifically for diabetics

Pitiless, thank you. 😊

Yes, we do soak them first. His foot care is a big part of looking after him and he has a foot soak a few times a week, then a pedicure. He also has three showers a day for various reasons so his feet are very soft for the most part - till a wee bit of hard skin develops then grows at the rate of Japanese knotweed in the space of a few days.

Olennas - thank you.

Sometimes fungal infections cause this. You could try some antifungal cream too

Wolpertinger · 03/10/2016 21:22

You need 25% urea for this - as in Flexitol Heel Balm. If the cracks go deep it will sting like crazy initially but I promise you will see the difference in days and they will be gone in no time and you will wonder why you never did it before.

Thank you. All of you. I really appreciate your help. I'm going to have a really good think about the anti fungal - it makes sense.

I got some cream today and we're cracking on with it.

Something really weird happened today when I dropped a friend at the Drs. I was driving off when the practice nurse got out if her car. She started waving at me to stop and then told me - I was thinking of you this morning because the chiropodist is back in town on holiday in 3 weeks and he'll see a few patients - how is DS?

I told her well I'm sure MN has him sorted but I'll take the appt anyway. Smile

Thank you. Flowers

Elizaneth Arden 8 hour cream is good, but have never tried it on anything quite so cracked and open. But it really is wonderful stuff-unfortunately its quite expensive

You need to use be natural callus eliminator to get rid of the build up then regular use of the creams will be effective,
It only needs to be on for a couple of minutes to work, would your son sit for that long?
It's likely the walking around barefoot or in thin soled shoes that is making it worse (happens me often) and I think once established you always have it.
This stuff is the simplest and best remedy I have found. Some beauticians may use it as well if that is an option, i first had it done in Singaporez

Fleoxitol every time. I was diagnosed Diabetic 3 years ago and had horrible and painful cracks, then had the standard podiatrist appointment was recommended Flexitol Heel stuff and had no problems since. Rub on after washing (daily) and every two weeks do some grating.
Good luck.
