Any thoughts/stories about cranial osteopathy for babies?

ds2 is 5 months old and verrry stroppy! He is a very tense baby and a bit jekyl(sp?) and hyde ish, either very happy or very very grumpy. I had an extremely quick labour, about 1 1/4 hrs start to finish, ds2 started screaming (and i mean really screaming) almost straight away and didn't stop for 4 hours. From then on he cried for between 6-10 hours a day.

He is loads happier now but can still be really hard work, is a dreadful feeder and when he loses it windows shake! If i'm not quite quick enough making a bottle he refuses to take it and just howls.

Has anyone got any stories, good or bad, of cranial osteopathy?

put it this way - it can't make it any worse, can it?

I wrote a long post about it sometime last year - will try and find it...

I am a huge fan of cranial osteopathy - it made a world of difference to DS at 6 weeks old and would highly recommend it - as Mrs Badger says, there is no downside to giving it a bash!

Some good friends of ours had a very unsettled baby (due to a traumatic birth). They took him for Cranial Osteopathy and found it worked really well. I think he was about 6m old at the time.

we took ds when he was a few weeks old for colic and came away with a different child - amazing! Still don't know how it works but at the time i didn't care!!

vintage thread here , althugh it appears to have lost the paragraph formatting so the ong posts are a bit hard to read.

I had great results from taking dd but you have to persevere.I would take her and then definitely need to go back 10 days later but that was because she was colicky-other problems I guess may be remedied quicker.

Absolutely nothing to lose by giving it a go or two.

Good luck!

I had a screamy baby with reflux - it was a nightmare.

I took him for two sessions of osteopathy. First time, he went in screaming, osteopath took him off me and within seconds he'd stopped crying. Took him home and he slept for 4 hours (never ever slept during the day until then).

Second session, we came home, he had a sleep and when he woke up he was really verbal, lots of cooing and babbling (had only opened mouth to scream and feed previously).

In the longer term, he seemed calmer and happier after treatment.

He was about 4-5 months.

Do it - I can't recommend it enough.

How did you all choose your osteopath? Don't suppose any of you are in Sheffield and could recommend one?!

Thanks for the positve stories, i am getting slightly desperate tbh, just want to enjoy him and not feel sooo drained

Ask your health visitor. They should point you in the right direction.

phone a few in your area and chat to them, find one you feel comfortable with. If they won't talk to you on the phone first, avoid.

My DS is 5 and see a CO for glue ear. I thoroughly recommend it as it has almost gone. There will always be those that think it is a waste of time but others like me that swear by the treatment.

good luck
