Fever and feeding

DD (10 months) seems to have a virus - she was ratty over the weekend (but no other signs), vomiting 6 or 7 times on Sunday night (but with no high temperature), and since then has had a high temperature and is sleeping most of the days. Yesterday, the SP said her throat/tonsils are inflamed but said just give pain relief for the time being.

So, what's the best thing to feed her? Despite her sore throat she will take soft solids (refuses toast) and will take more water than usual. Is there any reason not to re-introduce her formula milk now that she has kept everything down for 36 hours? She hasn't been offered a milk feed since Sunday evening.

Poor thing! If she can keep it down, I would offer her whatever she's able to eat, in small quantities! I'd certainly offer her milk as it's got lots of calories. If her tonsils are inflamed, toast will really hurt going down, but soft mild veg etc. should be all right I'd have thought.

I'd take her back to the GP if the temperature doesn't go away though.

Thanks. GP seemed to suggest steering clear of milk but I'm not sure why.

I think her need to vomit on Sunday night was exascerbated by having been fed a purple coloured dinner. It certainly made for worrying puddles over her face when we went in to her in the night

Oh yuk, purple sick...! Did she have pernod for tea??!!? I think that if you are likely to be sick, for some reason, milk can make it more likely - maybe because it's alkali? But if she's not been sick for two days I'd have thought it'd be ok.. But then I have no medical background....
