Rashes (urgent)

Mrsjacksparrow · 04/02/2007 21:12

On friday I noticed my son (6) was developing a bit of a rash on the side of his head, I put it down to heat rash as he was otherwise fine. Saturday I noticed it had spread down his face...partner insisted it was heat rash still and it didn't seem to be bothering him so I left it.

Today he had a huge (but faint) rash covering both sides of his face, his chest and his back and it was also coming up on one of his hands...I panicked and phoned the emergency doctor, on examination he put it down to an alergic reaction and prescribed some medicine (which I havn't been able to get yet, will get it first thing in morning).

Anyway I was in the bath a minute ago and I noticed I was developing a little rash on my upper chest near my armpit, it's a wierd looking rash and doesn't disapear when pressed...with that my son came in absolutely covered in a dark rash all over his chest and face, burning red on his cheeks and ears and it's iching him like mad...mine isnt itching at all.

What to do? worry?

P.S. if it helps I've also had a splitting headache all day (since 5am) but after 2 lots of paracetamol it's gone off...if it was anything like meningitis it wouldn't go off would it?

Please help, worrying like mad here...

I'd phone NHS direct or your doctor for advice ASAP - just so you know what you're dealing with

If you are worried, go to A & E or at the very least, ring NHS direct.

Is it slap cheek? or otherwise known as fifths disease.
The burning red on his cheeks like this to me!

My only advice is this if that is what it is - dont go near pregnant women as it can harm the unborn baby.
