8 week jabs on Tuesday - what to expect?

DS is having 8 week jabs on Tuesday.

SIL said her DD has not been right since having hers and she is now 19 weeks old.

DD had jabs and was fine but for a cold, but that was 3 years ago, and now there is the pnuemaccocol(sp) thing!

How did your LO's do?

ds cried a little (as expected) when having the jabs, then was fine, took feed no problem etc, however was a little whingy in the afternoon, but after a dose of calpol he calmed down within the hour. Although i must admit it was a little upsetting at the time. (he is our first and i'm a worrier!)

on the bright side though, the second and 3rd set of jabs seemed no to bother him at all!

Thanks - I am a worrier too, although this is 2nd baby. I just worry DS will get a cold or fever or something from it, as he's just got over his second and has a floppy larynx to boot, which makes everything seem worse and stay around longer!

You can always postpone it if you want to. There's no medical reason for doing them now rather than later, I believe.

well ds just had a bit of a reaction in the afternoon, it was very stressful at the time because he is usually a really placid baby and he did cry more than usual that afternoon, but looking back on it, it was probably only for about an hour or so.

dd- cried while they did the injections then went straight to sleep woke up when i took her out of her car seat at home gave her some calpol then she slept for a long time woke up for a feed and slept some more aprt from thast she was fine

LowFatMilkshake · 04/02/2007 21:57

Thanks both - very reassuring so far.

Have just read another thread where the LO had the pneumo thing booster and suffered a major temperature.

Panic, panic panic!

try not to panic! Temperatures are an expected side effect and can normally be dealt with easily. The jabs won't give your DS a clod or fever but if he has a fever already he shouldn't have them till its gone.Your worries are totally normal, just grit your teeth and go for it!!

LowFatMilkshake · 04/02/2007 22:02

Thanks - he has'nt got a fever, but as been a bit snuffly, although normally solve with a decongestant and some saline - and it;s seems to be on it's way out.
