Self diagonising ovarian cancer!!

I know l am just seeking reassurance and l really must wait to see what my GP says and step away from Google but am going slightly mad!!

Had severe bloating last Monday evening, which lasted a couple of days, tho gradually easing. Feel very full quickly tho and appetite reduced (which is unusual for me!) I am 49 and a few years post menopause.

Partner thinks it's IBS and l'm hoping it is too - just can't help worrying Sad

bloating from ovarian cancer does not ease. I've seen it in close relatives. There is definitely no "gradual easing" at all

My mum has this she's 59, apparently it can be caused by your cycle, like it would happen when you'd be due on your cycle. My mum thought she had IBS too and her doctor told her it was this. Avoid Google like the plague! You always go on with a headache and end up dying!

Do you honestly mean that you've only had this bloating (which has now eased) since last Monday and you expect a GP to diagnose ovarian cancer....come on, that's ridiculous. I would think your reduced appetite is related to your worry about cancer. It's true that the symptoms of ovarian cancer are medically insignificant and I'm sure you've read them all on google.

My best friend died of ovarian cancer some years ago and I can assure you that her symptoms were rather more than 1 episode of bloating!

Dr Google is not your friend - keep away from him.

As far as I know one of the big probs with diagnosing ovarian cancer is that is has non specific symptoms that are nearly always something else? Do you have other reasons- eg family history- to make you worry about this?
