So, Who's had a Perianal abscess?

I think I may have one. Woke up yesterday with tender bump/lump in that area, however, although it's painful to touch, it's not mega painful and certainly not in any excruciating pain. It's swollen red and a bit itchy.
Pretty sure it's not haemorrhoids as I'm used to those and not in same location.
I had an abscess in the same location when I was a child but nothing since.
So, I'm trying to hold on and see if it gets more painful as abscesses are supposed to right?

I had one, came on suddenly and very painfully. Had surgery, wound packing (most painful thing ever) then recurred about 3 months later. Nearly 2 years of cycling through recurrences then had further surgery and has not recurred in the 7 years since so hopefully it never will. It was very frustrating trying to get GPs to take me seriously.

That's terrible about GPs not taking you seriously, blue. Mine is sick of looking at my bum, but she's the one who got me in for my current surgeries. She's great. I sometimes feel a niggle on the other side, and swelling once... I really couldn't cope if I got another one!
