Hyperemesis in pg? Do you find that, years later, you feel nauseous for several days a month?

Cos I do, usually around ov days and when I have PMT.Its great.

Not sure if this is common, and if there is anything I can do about it.

Anyone else?

Fortunately not, but I can't eat the foods I ate when I was first getting over it.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 16:09

I do - usually towards the end of my period for about three days. I'd never associated it with the hyperemesis though - just assumed it was one of those lovely hormonal things that women get lumbered with!

Overrun · 02/02/2007 16:13

Whats hyperemesis then? I know that i feel nauseaus around the time of ovulation since pregnancy, my dh has told me that I can also get a strange metallic smell on my breath (hmm) at certain points of my cylce, like you get in pregnancy. I do experience a metallic taste as well, just as I do when pregnant, it was always my first symptom.
Does any of this help?

Overrun · 02/02/2007 16:14

Just googled it, no I didn't have severe nausea in pregnancy, quite the opposite in fact

I'm not sure if it is associated with the hg, WWB-but I never got it before my 1st pg.

I do get the nasty taste (not metallic exactly, but unpleasant)as well. Hmmm, wonder if there is a connection?

its strange isn't it, its led me to panic a couple of times. I wonder if its just a case of your body remembering pregnancy?
I was quite stunned when dh mentioned that he could smell it on my breath
I remember making him smell my breath every day during early days of first pregnancy, as I couldn't get my head round the fact i was, with so few other symptoms iyswim

Flamesparrow · 02/02/2007 16:28

I feel sick when I get a surge of too many hormones - so pregnancy, or when I am on the pill a couple of hours after I take it, or not on the pill at certain stages in the month.

I had it before having HG though...

madmarchhare · 02/02/2007 16:36

I had severe HG, and yes, for a good year had lots of nausea. Doctor said that it is not that common (as HG itself isnt really), but it can happen.

I have been left a touch emetophobic and suffer with anxiety/panic etc. every time I feel unwell.

The last conversations I had with my GP suggested councilling if it seriously rears its head again (am taking ADs atm).

Overrun · 02/02/2007 16:39

sorry I am getting confused now, what hg?

sassy · 02/02/2007 16:42

Poor you madmarchhare. That sounds grim.

Interesting to know it can continue, I'm sure that it was the hg which triggered my sickness episodes post-pg. It has prevented any further pgs though, have had to stop at 2 dds (which is fine of course, tho I'd have loved at least 1 more.)

Hg = hyperemesis gravidarum (sp?) - full name for it, Overrun.
