I had mine removed about 4 years ago - it was quite small for about 20 years, didn't bother me then it had a huge growth spurt! Was really unsightly - self-conscious at hairdressers...or out and about if it was windy ... and then it started oozing so finally went to see GP and few weeks later had it removed. Quick and painless. Just wish I'd got it sorted sooner .... am a worrywart. Good luck.

If they remove the sac, rather than just draining the fluid, it's far less likely to return.
Even if it comes back, it'll start again smaller and less irritating.

Get it dealt with!

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I was wondering if you ever managed to get this seen to in the end op?
I've had a small one on the back of my head for the last few years, but it's suddenly become really painful and I've finding it hard to sleep. I just want it removed so badly but a bit worried about bothering my gp with it given how much the nhs is struggling at the moment. Sad

I had one removed last year. It was on the top of my head, had been there for some years but was gradually increasing in size. No head shaving, just a little cut and then the 'sack' removed. It was all very straightforward. It was sent for histology afterwards though & turned out to be a tumour. Benign and unlikely to reoccur but I have to have regular check-ups. Do get it removed.

Mine was smaller than yours but I hadn't realised how much it irritated me until it was gone.

Thanks Monkeyface. Have managed to make an appointment to have mine checked. Smile Am glad to hear that it's a simple op if they are prepared to do it.

I had one removed from the top of scalp a few years ago, it wasn't anything near as big as yours but it was quite visible. It was a minor operation, although once they started they found that it was much longer than they had expected and I ended up with an incision about the length of my forefinger when they had expected it to be less than half that size. They got all the root out though and it has never come back, and although there is probably a bit of a scar it's covered by my hair.

I have watched these ops on YouTube. I could do it for you OP, I am sure I could. I have a scalpel from my A level biology disection kit and some dettol and rubber gloves. Wink

Quite callous of your doctor to expect you to put up with that. I had two smaller ones that I'd had for years. They would flare up sometimes and cause me discomfort when lying down. I'm sure that is uncomfortable for you.
Had mine removed seven years ago and they haven't come back.
Ask to see another doctor if they won't help you.

Good Luck!
