Giddy1,
I'm not sure if this will help but I had this myself about 10 years ago. Just woke up in the night, room was spinning and I was repeatedly sick and dizzy until prescribed sea sickness pills. The doctor diagnosed me as soon as he saw me walk across the waiting room. It took about a week for the worst of the sickness to go, during which time I wasn't allowed to drive or be in the dark. I still get spells of it from time to time, very briefly, but it's never come back like that. I'm not sure the normal prognosis for it, but it's not been unmanageable in my case. I hope things get better for you soon. I vividly remember the room literally feeling like it's spinning up-side down and it's massively scarey.

Hi Giddy,

I have this too, it's truly awful isn't it? The room goes round and round and round and your ears whistle and you can't do a thing. If I tried to walk I would just stagger and cling on to things.

I completely and utterly understand, and I don't think anybody can until they experience it.

Are you managing your diet? There's a link with salt, probably other things but salt is seems to be a common trigger for a lot of sufferers. There are quite a few menieres support groups online.

Mine has been better for a year or so, I just can't move my head suddenly/get up/down suddenly and I have terrible vertigo. I can live with all this though. I hope yours calms down soon too.

Hi Giddy,

I would definitely speak to your consultant. I think everybody's experience of Meniere's is very different.

I'm glad you haven't had any attacks today. It makes a big difference doesn't it? It's much easier to manage the feelings of vertigo if you move your head too much. The awful spinning of the world around its axis and whistling is not so easy to handle.

I don't often mention or dwell on my Meniere's any more and in talking to you I've just realised that it's my vertigo that stops me walking for 5 minutes after getting off a treadmill. Doh! I thought everybody felt like that, but of course, it's the motion.

I think that's a good thing though - I've got to the point now where Meniere's doesn't control my life, and I'm sure you will too.
