? quick question... dd has always had poo that is in no way firm, (like normal poo) I would call it slush! (yuck)

When she was younger we said it was because she had an all fluid diet? but as she is now on solids I would have expected her to be having more solid poos?

She eats well/everything/healthy!
I just don't get it?
Or is this normal?

Should just say that about once a month she has what I would call a normal poo. But that just doesn't seem right to me?

Hmm, DS gets "slushy" poo when he's teething. Has she been teething more or less constantly?

blueamema · 01/02/2007 12:50

She has been getting her bigger back teeth through.
But this has been the same since birth?

Well, all babies' poo is liquidy at first, and only becomes more normal adult-like poo when they move onto solid food (I caught myself calling it "human poo" a few times! ) - so if she's been teething since then, that could be why. But you could see the GP just to check. I don't know if food intolerances affect poo - anyone?

NotQuiteCockney · 01/02/2007 12:56

We have a high-fibre diet, and I found DS1's poo only really started getting solid when he was 4 or 5. (Maybe 3? I didn't keep a diary!)

DS2 is 2 now, and once in a while produces a poo-like poo.

If she is well and happy, I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

ds1, 18m, does a mixture. one will be an actual sausage like shape, the next, mush.

blueamema · 01/02/2007 12:57

I was actually starting to think about food intolerances?

It can be a food intolerance thing. A friend's DS makes really runny poos if he eats bananas. Which was a bit of a problem, as she'd offer bananas to firm things up, and of course he'd just poo out more.

blueamema · 01/02/2007 12:59

I give dd a banana nearly everyday!

You could check with your GP, but some children (mine!) are just like that - there's something called toddler diarrhoea, and they're basically fine, just grim nappies. It sorts out when they're between 3 and 5!

I have the same thing with my 15 month old. I've taken her off formula milk and cows milk which I was introducing whenstopping breast feeding and have now got her on goats milk. Its stopped the liquid like stuff in her nappy and now it just loks like "sat in it for a while" poo.

She can even eat a lot of veg and fruit an its still the same.

I had to do this with ds2 when trying to get him to poo in the toilet so I suspected there was something astry with th milk in the diet thing. I'm not saying they have an intollerance to it, I think it is the fat in the milk which isn't being digested.
