How to cope with toddler with tummy bug - help!

DD2 ( 20 months) has just started vomiting this evening. Sure she has some sort of viral tummy bug which has been doing the rounds.
Anybody have any practical tips for looking after a toddler who's vomiting in the night. Sick in the cot, her hair, sleep suit four times now. She's too little to communicate but just wants to go back to sleep after each vom.
Do most people sleep in with them when they're like this? Help! Long night ahead....

Just a huge amount of sympathy! I never slept with mine when they were like that but had spare towels / sheets on hand for quick changes / mop ups.
Hope you are both OK
Oh, and make sure she gets enough fluids

I would camp out next to her armed wit lots of towels, bucket wipes etc. That way you will know when she is about to be ill and can be prepared. The camoin out for me is prefferable to avin to clean up everything. I also find that my little ones get very restless in thier sleep just before they are going to be sick, so you can be prepared.

Have some water in with you and let her have a few sips afterwards. Just plenty of sips of water and let it run it's course and she should be fine tomorrow.

I hope she feels better in the morning and you don't have too bad a night.

Hope your night wasn't too bad. How are you today stramash?

had this with ds1 (18m) not long ago.
as mentioned, camped out and woke at every stir.
otherwise, i layered towels in his cot so i could just peel each sicked layer off and he could go straight back down.
collected them up in a bin bag then straight in the machine in the morning.
if they have stomach pain, doc told me to give calpol and nothing, not even water for 3 hours. then the pain should go then you can start them on sips of water and build it up gradually and they shouldnt be sick anymore.
the tummy needs to rest with nothing in it.

Much better thanks JbNW. Night not as bad as expected: dd2 stopped throwing up at midnight and dh insisted on doing the camping out thing so I got full nights sleep.Marvellous! Think he regretted it as he looked knackered this morning whilst dd2 full of beans. She woke up at 4 and just wanted to "chat" apparently - confused as to why her father was on the floor wrapped in a duvet I expect.

Thanks for the support & tips all - much appreciated. Now, just need to find a way to get vomit stains off a beige carpet...
