My 16 month dd has a perfarated ear drum as a result of a stinking cold. We've been told her ear has to stay dry for 8 weeks to heal. The only problem is she's got fairly long hair that I'm having a nightmare trying to was. Tried putting cotton wool in her ear, she pulls it out. Tried a shampoo sheild she pulls it off. THe only other thing I can thing of is a dry shampoo spray that old ladies use. But that'll only be as a last result. Any ideas????

Could you get DH to hold her over the bath while you quickly wash it with a spray? (Also if you put a little lump of Vaseline in her ear it would keep water out?)

Foam ear plugs or the sort that you use for swimming? She may not be able to remove them herself very quickly, and give you enough time to wash her hair?

Can one of you wrap her up tightly in a big towel so she can't get her arms out (my dd calls it a Spring Roll!) and hold her over the bath or wash basin to shampoo her hair? Hth.

Ear Bandits should help keep the cotton-wool in and the water out, then proceed as with suedonim's suggestion. Worked for us, anyway!
