have 3 dc, aged 3, 2 and 1

3yo had it at 6m all over so hopefully immune now (not for sure, my cousin had it 3 times!)

2yo has had it for what seems like forever now... first noticed spots almost 2 weeks ago, now they are all scabbed and most scabs falling off... and he has awful hacking cough and vomiting now just to round the month off nicely, like.

but ds3 - the 1yo - has been ill for about a fortnight.. high temps, awful coughing etc, but still no sign of spots. is it possible hes had chickenpox, but without having the spots? spose that means hes not immune now, so will get it next time its going round ...

I don't think so. When ds had it he had lots of spots, but most of them 'faded' and didn't fully develop. He had about 5-6 proper spots. He definatly had it, since later on the poor little tyke got shingles!

NappiesGalore · 28/01/2007 16:57

ouch! i had shingles when i was 14. NOT nice.

i just dont get it tbh - why hasnt he gotten the pox? ive bathed them together every night and everything (thinking i would at least get it all over with)

now I have the stinking headsplitting cold too so cant really think straight or handle any more sickness tbh (please god let my childcare not get sick and let me down now!)

poor you nappies......must be a bit grim at yours......(hug)

keep trying to find children with chicken pox so babylulu can get it, but everyone has either had it or has kept their children out of the way.....

NappiesGalore · 28/01/2007 20:46

well youre welcome to come and rub her up against ds2 only A- apparently hes the least contagious case of chickenpox in the world and B- its prob a bit far to come

but cheers for the hug - appreciated!

better not be DS3 ! ! ! ! !

NappiesGalore · 28/01/2007 20:55

oh now theres an idea!

if you get any large noisy wriggly boxes in the next few days, open it up quick and have drinky bottles at the ready; 1 with milk, 1 with orange and banana juice watered down 10to1, and one with aptamil forward ready mixed formula (theyre a fussy lot, mine). they'll let you know whos is whos...

theyre very cute. quite well behaved... i'll swing by and pick them up in, say, 10 years? make it 18...

My mum had chickenpox & only had one spot - right in the middle of her back. Her mum didn't see it & thought she was just playing up to get attention (both her brothers had it)It wasn't till the doctor checked her that they realised she had it too - she never got any more, but had all the other symptoms.

MerlinsBeard · 28/01/2007 20:59

my sister only had 4 spots and they weren't classic cp spots either just like pimples

nappies, u could post ur DS in a funpod, it won't wriggle that way

MOM - people with working memory's slightly disturb me...

ok, so im getting that its possible hes had it and either hasnt any spots or we just havnt found them - hes certainly been ill, really poorly at times.

question is; did any of these people who had it spotlessly, so to speak, get it again? i mean, did the less severe version build up immunity or not?
