Would greatly appreciate some advise if possible!
Had a copper coil fitted 3 weeks ago. period due next thursday. but started with period pains a few days ago and yesterday and the day before I had light spotting.
I can't remember what the woman said who fitted it so is this normal???

I have a copper coil and I can't really remember what the doc said to me either, but I seem to remember having a light period not long after the coil was fitted and then a proper one either the following cycle or the one after that (I remember because I was excited that all of them would be so light and short) . It took a couple of months to settle back in to my regular cycle and now it's as regular as clockwork (and bloody heavy, but that's nothing new!)

Was worried it was an awful sign of pregnancy implantation bleeding or something!! That is my worst nightmare!!!

I had implantation bleeds with ds and didn't realise I was pregnant for 3 months. I did a test out of curiousity, not because I thought I was pregnant! (But I didn't have a coil in so that was ok!)

Christ! That would be horrendous if I was. recently had c section. What exactly is an implantation bleed?

I don't know really, I just nodded and pretended to look like I knew what the doc was talking about when she told me!!! But if you have a coil then you would know if you were pregnant, you'd have an ectopic or would miscarry (harsh isn't it?!) so you'd be in more pain (that's what the GP told me anyway). If you are a recent mum it'll take a while to get your poor battered body back into synch so don't worry. Also, you can get more period pain with the copper coil and heavier periods, so don't be alarmed if your first one is horrible! It's a really good contraception, I've had mine for over a year and am really happy with it, wouldn't swop it for the world!

Thankyou! Thats good to know! Not too bothered about miscarriage as far as I'm concerned nobody is invited into my uterus ever again so there!!! Not happy about heavy periods though. Women get the rough end of the stick every time don't they?!

I know, it's a cruel, cruel world (and it's no surprise that God is a man!!!)
