Been done before, I know, but I need head lice help!

DD (8) has had itchy head for last day or two so checked tonight and found lice. Have wet combed with conditioner as that is all we have. Am quite prepared to do this repeatedly. The only problem is that her hair is really thick and past her shoulder blades in length so it has taken AGES! Should I just get chemicals and if so, which one?? All advice appreciated.

SOrry, no idea. We've never had it, but thought I'd bump for you.

I thinkI've heard that the conditione will suffocate them so you might want to leave it on overnight.

Personally I do think the chemicals do the best job, but you MUST comb regularly too. We all have long thick hair so I know what a nightmare it is - it takes about an hour each night, but when you see them being washed down the sink you know you're making progress!
Good luck.

Conditioner and nit comb, EVERY night for 10 days, it gets rid of them, honestly. Make sure you're thorough. Boring but true. Chemicals are horrible, I would rather not personally.

TEA TREE conditioner is bril...superdrug do a good one.
i use it all the time now for the boys and we've had our longest ever 'lice free zone'

Thanks all. Will do the conditioner and combing method for now and see how we get on. I'm not very keen on the chemical method but will definitely do that if we are still combing them out in a few days. Last time it was two weeks before we were sure they were gone and her hair is thicker and longer than it was then! Aaaaaargh! Luckily, DS (4) has short fair hair and we'll spot them quickly on him! My brother shaved his two DS's heads when they got them!! Extreme reaction, I think. DD's ballet teacher would not be happy if I did that to her!!

Does anyone have advice to prepare me for looking after a two year old girl with cystic fibrosis. We are going to be fostering her with a view to adoption. She's under Great Ormond Street and seems fairly stable, though had a very bad start in life - bowel obstruction. Now has short gut syndrome and slightly restricted diet (dairy restricted). What's it like doing the physio every day? All advice appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, I'm an idiot, didn't mean to put cystic fibrosis on same thread as head lice (have had lots of experience with head lice though). Am new to this and didn't know how to start new topic.
