You can get trapped wind in your shoulders! Are you wolfing food down?

When I last had excruciating shoulder pain it was down to a gallbladder infection. Possibly connected somehow? Gallstones?

CreamCrackerundertheSettee · 14/07/2016 13:51

You can get referred pain from your liver to the shoulder tip.

reallyanotherone · 14/07/2016 13:52

it's referred pain. Your brain interprets the pain as coming from the shoulder when it's from elsewhere in the abdomen.

It's very common after gynae ops when they fill your abdomen with air, which then presses on the diapragm.

BertieBotts · 14/07/2016 13:52

It's referred pain from your diaphragm area. So trapped wind most likely.

If it's only recently started you might want to take a pregnancy test as it can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy but if you've had it for a while, it's probably not that!

Dogolphin · 14/07/2016 14:28

Only happens with a large meal, so Christmas Day for example. I knew you lot would know!

I've only heard of it as a side effect of gynae ops as really said.

Maybe discuss with your GP to rule out other abdominal stuff like gallstones?

Dogolphin · 14/07/2016 16:21

Yes, I might mention it if I'm in for something else.

Can I ask which shoulder?

Dogolphin · 14/07/2016 17:14

My left.

Could be gallstones after a big heavy meal? Get it checked out

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 14/07/2016 18:24

Yes to what has been said. See your GP.
