just in case you dont know, Piriton syrup is great for dc with chickenpox - takes about 70% of the misery out of it (esp if given w medised or calpol or something)

wish id known about it when ds1 had it, but ds2 has appreciated it v much!

Also the homeopathic remedy Rhus Tox.

ah you see, i didnt know that one - whats that do then? and would it work in general terms (like arnica, urtica) or would the child need to see a homeopath to be given a specific remedy?
am interested since ds1 has had it, ds2 is just getting over it and ds3 is prob on the way down with it (temp for 4 days but no pox yet)

Put some porridge oats in the end of some tights and hold it under the tap when you run a bath. It makes the water cloudy and apprently helps the spots.

I tried it but also with piriton and calpol so hard to tell what worked but I guess anything helps.

sounds interesting... any idea why that would help?
fwiw i heard also that bicarbonate of soda in the bath would help as it dries out the spots.
and Eurax cream looks good too - indicated for chickenpox and says it owrks for 10 hrs... not that my 2yo ds2 would have anything put on him (which is why the piriton was so invaluable i reckon)

Piriton is great for some kids, but not mine. It made him completely hyperactive so he was up until 4am wanting to play. Grrr!

Porridge oats definitely works. I do that for myself when my skin is feeling dry. Latest tip is lavender oil on the spots to help them heal. Don't know if it works - didn't have any in the house. DH got some calamine cream which ds loved so much he had a screaming fit when I put it away.
