He's so little!! They said they ususally wait until they are 3 or 4 but want his out asap, and his adenoids.

It's great they are doing it but am a bit scared for him!

Hi

Both my daughter's had their tonsils removed aged 3. They were fine ( it was me that was a nervous wreck). They both reacted very differently to the anaesthetic though. One slept for hours after initailly coming round and the other screamed the place down from the moment she was conscious!!

Hiya How long did it take them to recover? I have to stay overnight with him.

What's it like when they have the anaesthetic - is it horrible?

Hi

They had their adenoids out and grommets inserted too. They had it done and came home the next day. I was allowed to stay the night with them.
Their recovery was almost immediate in fact dd2 ate doritos on the way home!!!!

By the way they are not twins ( my last post made it seem they had it done at same time.)
There was actually 2 years in between them, but strangely they had the operation at almost exactly the same age.

The worst part for me was watching them be put to sleep...a big lump in my throat and didn't stop worrying til they came bcak up fom theatre!!

I'm sure your ds will be fine. The good thinga about them being young is that they don't worry beforehand and they bounce back really quickly.
When is he booked in?

zephyrcat · 24/01/2007 18:29

He's booked in for 8th feb. Was meant to be next Tuesday but we're away until 5th so straight back home and then 2 days til he's in poor baby!!

I'm sure deep down that he'll be just fine. I guess I'm just preparing myself really!!

Doritos on the way home?! That has to be a good sign

Yeah - she was hungry and in the hospital they don't give them ice cream or anything soft - they think it's best to let them each dry stuff such as toast, it helps the wounds heal quicker apparently?!
They both ate cornflkes for breakfast the morning after and were back to normal really quickly.

I'm sure he'll be okay - mine were bribed with Brave Girl pressies and it certainly smoothed the morning of the op for them to have somehting new to distract them.

They make them eat toast?? OUch! lol Actually it does say in the leaflet to give them 'normal' food, not softened so that they heal quicker
