If you feeling unwell also definitely go to GP. My husband has had recurrent abcesses at the base of his spine and the antibiotics were given too late so his body didn't tolerate them. He ended up with a drip and surgery.

Better to be safe as it could be an infection.

Take a pic then see the ooh gp if you are feeling unwell with it.

How are you today?

dr gave me some flucloxacilin but am not sure if it's doing much, just a small steady drip coming out that stops then comes back. It's pretty agonising still. Wish they would have just popped it. there seems to be two bumps both red and angry with tiny heads that occasionally erupt. :(

Oh no! I was told to give it 2 or 3 days on the antibiotics then if no better I was to go back. I did then they decided I needed an operation to get rid of it.

I really feel for you!

That sounds like a carbuncle! You poor thing .

My DH had one & got antibiotics. A week later he went back & had it lanced & drained. The Dr sprayed it with liquid nitrogen as it temporarily numbs the area. A local can't be used as it won't work. He slit it with a scalpel & squeezed it. He had the bumps of white heads & swelling & pain like you describe. It wasn't ripe enough when he first went & the antibiotics didn't help. He had to take antibiotics after it was lanced for a week. Hope you et some relief soon.
Magnesium Sulphate is a drawing paste that might bring it to a head. You cover the area with cream & a plaster.

well spend the last couple of days oozing occasionally and they feel a whole lot better now. still lumpy but not painful so antibiotics must have worked. I am sure I got this from using a blunt razor. be careful people! that was agony :( thanks for the support

I had a breast abscess when I was bf and it was agony. I had to go back a few times to get it drained and had more than one course of antibiotics. They took an ultrasound to see how deep it was before they drained it. If you are feeling flu like I would def call a dr. When I went to dr with it they sent me straight to the out of hours at hospital.

WeeM · 07/07/2016 20:47

Sorry didn't realise that was a couple of days ago and cross posted-glad you're feeling better!

bearofnothingness · 07/07/2016 20:51

thanks, ouch to the breast abscess, it's amazing how massive these things can get!
