Another Men C scare! He was sick all thursday night and friday morning he woke up and wouldn't eat or drink or play or talk his face came up in the non blanching rash and he started complaining his kneck and head was sore, so the alarm bells start ringing and by the time the ambulance arrived i could'nt wake him up.

He was rushed into resus in the hospital where 7 peadiatricians were waiitng for us and strapped up to oxygen and his sats had plummeted after 7 attempts they got a line in.

Anyway they started the anti biotics and put him in isolation on the ward.

It turns out that he didn't have Men C but they dd discover a serious chest infection which according to x-ray had been lingering a long time which im pretty pissed off about as i have taken him to the gp's whith his cronic cough abot 10 times only to be told he's fine and sent home.

He is being seen by the chest speacialist next week after having his sweat test but by the way the dr was talking i think that he thinks that DS has got Cystic Fibrosis now that this infection has come to light.

Anyway we are home now and DS is on oral antibiotics untill the specialist has got the chest and cough and stomach thing sorted as they are the only thing that controls it at the moment.

I am completley drained but so proud of my little boy who was so brave and took it all in his stride even though he is only 2.

OMG, poor wee thing. And poor you too. Glad it's all over now (mainly), and hope things get sorted out soon. xx

Thanks.
I keep telling myself that even if he has got CF then at least we will finally kno whats wrong and begin to control it.
Plus apparently there is alot more treatment availiable these days then there used to be.

Sounds like he's been through a lot. Hope he's ok.

PeachyClair · 22/01/2007 17:16

Brave little la, give him an extra hug from us.

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/01/2007 18:58

He's 2.4 FioFio.

His consultant at the begining said he was just testing for CF as a precaution becuase of his cronic cough and bad nappies but he didn't think he had it as he was putting on weight fine and he had no chest infections but now it seems he has had one for ages so the list of symptoms are growing.
There is still a chance he may not have it but i have had a feelinf for a long time that he has and i think the dr's think he has got it to by the way they were talking.

He is such a happy lad it breaks my heart to see him laughing and playing when he could have suce a hard life ahead of him and he doesn't even know it.

Charleesunnysunsun hope your ds feels better soon, he sounds just like my ds who was two at christmas appart from my ds has had many chest infections and hospital asdmissions. He also gets very awful nappies several times a day. At his last hosp appointment he hadn't gained any weight and his chest was quite bad But the only test he hasn't had is the CF one although it's been mentioned several times even by a nurse at my gp's do you think I should ask for a test?
Sorry for long post but it just seemed like you were in a simuler[sp] position.
