Hi - anyone out there with optician experience?
We have had a letter saying that she has failed the test, requires assessing and that an appointment will be sent to us. No other information except this:

R 6/9
L /6/24

How bad is it? Am worried sick.
Thanks in advance for your help.

No experinece - but why not just try and get her an appoitnment with an optician tomorrow ? Then they will do a full eye test and at least you wont have to wait. Our high street ones often seem to have signs up saying 'No appoitnment necessary'. If it is just glasses then they can sort it out there and then, if it needs to see someone else at least you find out sooner.

Hi, my ds failed these too, as did lots of children in his class.
We all ended up getting appointments for the optician, and all but 1 of the kids were absolutely fine.

I don't know what those figures mean, but don't think it is anything serious. Glasses for your son at worst...

My ds was desperate for glasses but did not get any, and now 3 years on still has a desperate wish for glasses [strange child emoticon!] and sets off for his annual eye test full of hope [even stranger child emoticon!]

I think any child that has less than perfect vision gets an appointment with the optician.
