7 month old with VERY runny nose - blowing bubbles! Help needed!

My 7 month old DS has a cold and his nose is absolutely streaming. He's swallowing it and so coughing/gagging and blowing bubbles! Had a really bad night with him last night as he tried desperately to wipe his nose. Have angled his cot mattress but have no idea what else might help ease it for him. Any ideas much appreciated!

Laura, it's awful when they are so young isn't it?

Tbh honest I don't think there's much else you can do other than what you have already done. Actually, putting the head end of the cot on books/bricks would be a bit more comfortable, rather than angling the mattress. I would also give him a bit of Calpol before his main sleep.

Or even have him in with you tonight. Good luck!

Some mothers gently suck out the flem from thier babies noses, I could'nt do it personally, but if you give it a go have a bowl handy to spit in to.

dd is a big bubble blower too. we've got her mattress propped up at the head end and have a muslin with junior olbas oil dabbed onto it wrapped and tied securely around her cot bars. it seems to be working, she's far less stuffy.

I have done that, when dd2 was 11 weeks old she just couldn't cope with all the snot, I sucked on her nose and spat into a tissue, she didn't like it, I must say I wasn't keen but it did help

You can get a snot extractor from the pharmacist. Well it's really called a nasal aspirator - but iirc it's mainly for babies with rather blocked noses, rather than super runny ones.

Worth a try though, I suppose.
