Hello,

I have been getting white spots( i think its called Milia) under my left eye since my ds was born.
Does anybody know how i can get rid of them, i have been trying to exfoliate my face, and use oil free moistureizers.Don't know what else to do.

Hi,

If you go to a beauty salon, they will give you a facial and do professional millia removal for you, using a small metal implement with a round tube at the end.

I'm a beauty therapist, and would strongly advise you don't keep exfoliating the millia if they are under your eye, as the skin under the eye is very sensitive, and much thinner than on the rest of the face. The result of using exfoliants here will be wrinkly damaged skin in years to come.

Millia are often hereditary, and are often suffered by people who have dry skin rather than oily skin. Using an oil-free moisturiser is neither here nor there really. If you are prone to them, you are prone to them.

Check out www.babtac.co.uk and see if you can find a therapist who specialises in millia removal in your area.

I get these quite often. I was told by several beauticians that there are 2 ways to get rid of them. Firstly, gentle exfoliating over a long period of time can bring them to the surface. I had 2 small ones and while I did the Carol Vorderman detox (totally unrelated) they came out within a week with about 2 days worth of exfoliating. Guess it has something to do with good nutrition and no junk food.

Or, you can go to a beautician and they can pierce it with a sterile needle. I know a few people who did this and it worked really well. I, however, did it on my own with a sewing needle for a larger one I had. It was a bit red for 2 days bit it worked. Not that I recommending that course of action you understand

how extraordinary - I get these but never realised they had a name or that there was a way to get rid of them so thanks for the thread Ash80!
