Chicken Pox - Should i send ds to school, even though dd1 has the spots?

DD1 has just come up in spots which are almost 100% chicken pox [its going round and their friends have it, so its very likely to be]. But Ds is in P1 but hasnt had it yet, neither has dd2. So all i really want to know is ............. Do i send him to school tomorrow knowing he is probably already carrying it though NO spots but he has been not quite himself.

DD1 has docs tomorrow to confirm.I'm just not sure what the right thing to do is.

send him to school unless he is sick. There is no guarentee that he'll get it, and if he does, it might not be for another couple of weeks.

In my doctors opinion the best thing is that its passed on throughout school as its so much worse to get it as an adult.

Thats exactly what i wanted to hear! I don't like to keep them off unless i REALLY have to and like you say he might not get it.

Agree to send him. It could take ages for the spots to come out even if he has it.

send him to school - the incubation period could be anything from 10 to 21days !

So if you dont send him he could be off for 3 weeks then spots come out and then off for about another week ! So 4 weeks off school - no thank you !

Send him -occupational hazrd of being a child and mixing with other children - you end up catching things from nits to chicken pox !

Hope DD1 is not too poorly with it .

DD1 is OK just very pale and didnt eat her crisps after playgroup today so i knwew she wasnt right. [she NEVER passes on crisps!] She does has a few spots in not very nice places but is in bed fast asleep now. Glad the majority is for sending him in, he is not the easiest child and the thought of him being at home if its not necessary is too much!

Thanks mummydear. My friend suggested not taking him in but it didnt actually cross my mind till she said.
Thanks .xx
