....and he takes 4 a day. And that is just to help to control his nausea. Those alone would cost us over £1000 a month. Then there is the other anti emetic, the proton pump inhibitor, two chemoterapy drugs, pain killing patches and his insulin, oh and a steroid.

I'm necer going to moan about the NHS again. God bless them! ;O

its shocking isnt it MB. god bless the NHS.

do you have to pay for dh scripts?

SickJealousandWorried · 17/01/2007 10:59

Thank God for the NHS.
Really hope they all do what they are supposed to too.
How is it going?

Soapbox · 17/01/2007 11:00

How is he doing atm, MB?

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 11:03

NO, we get everything for free, along with DLA and a blue badge, all of which was sorted by macmillan.....in a week.

The service to the terminaly ill is amazing.

He is actually feeling very well, and has put on some weight. Hard to believe that he is so ill, if I am honest.

glad he's feeling ok - did they sort out the diabetes?

Macmillan nurses are amazing aren't they. It is amazing that they are a charity and rely on donations and legacies and the like.

gladbag · 17/01/2007 11:17

That reminds me that I must look out for the next Macmillan coffee morning - they are amazing aren't they. I think most are in September, but they do appear at other times. We had a nurse living with us when my mum was very ill, and she was fantastic and a huge help to the whole family.

So glad to hear that dh is feeling ok, and gaining weight. Think of you all often

foxinsocks · 17/01/2007 11:23

yes that's a good idea gladbag (think the last one here was in September)

(oops overuse of the word amazing in my original post!)

frogs · 17/01/2007 11:41

mb, that has just made me feel much better about the massive cheque I'm about to write to the Inland Revenue. Good to know that at least some of our taxes are being well spent.

Glad it's going as well as it can be under the circs.

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 16:31

Fox in sox, his diabetes is now coming under control. We are not there yet, but getting there. Blood this morning was 8, and before lunch was 12. Given that 2 weeks ago he was off the scale, this is a huge imrpovement. And we don't need to worry so much about end organ damage

but still is is feeling so much better

'kinell, MB, that's huge amounts of money!

Know what you mean. I was explaining to DD1 that in some countries you had to pay to go to the doc, and she looked at me with incredulity.

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 16:39

The pharse your highly trained writers mind was looking for was 'Farking great big wodges of cash'

This is where we have to be grateful for the nhs.I don't know what i would do without them My medication is 16k per month!!!!

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 16:41

and worth every penny!

seriously the NHS may seem crap when you can't get a surgery appointment for a sore throat, but up at the other end if is fucking magestic. We could never afford this.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 17/01/2007 16:43

Totally agree mb when you really need them and we are not talking ingrown toenails here tehy really deliver.I have had first class treatment for teh last 25 years and live in fear of it going pear shaped

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 16:46

to be honest. since dh became ill my practice has us 'flagged up' so we get an appointment within the day, for any of us, for anything. They say it is a. because the last thing dh needs is to be around sick people who could give it to him and b. I'm under enough stress as it is. Which is very caring of them

OP posts:
Twiglett · 17/01/2007 16:50

I am so pleased to hear it too

but there is still rationing going on .. I'm just so pleased it isn't being for you ..

there are still people who cannot get the right drug treatment because of the cost

I blame the drug companies .. although I know the whole R&D budgets argument

Great news that you dh is feeling well MB, I think of you both often. I too have vowed that i will never complain about the NHS again and am glad that we don't live in a country where we would have to pay for medical care and prescriptions.

foxinsocks · 18/01/2007 16:39

that sounds like a massive improvement (with his diabetes) - hope he's not having to curtail his cream and cake diet too much

in terms of medicines £10 per tablet really is NOT that expensive!
