Has anyone any experience of using citalopram (an antidepressent)while breastfeeding?

I used it whilst bf dd2 and will be in 3 weeks time when I give birth to dd3. I was changed from fluoxetine to citalopram as it was considered the safest for pg and bf

Were you advised not to take it while pregnant or did you choose not too?

sorry maybe I didn't explain myself properly. I was taking fluoxetine for PND after the birth of my first child 6 years ago and after a small time when I wasn't on them I havebeen on anti d's since then. I was taking them when I fell pregnant with dd2 2 years ago and they suggested that I change to citalopram which I did. so I was taking citalopram whilst pg with dd2 and then whilst bf her. I fell pregnant with dd3 when dd2 was 12 months, I was still taking it then and I;'m still taking it now and I will continue to do so when bf dd3.

Thanks. Do you still feel depressed or do you feel fine and that's why you stick with it? Hope I'm not prying too much? I haven't taken them since before the children and find it hard to remember.

I'm still taking them because I think I would completely fall apart without them. Not sureif you've read any of my posts before but I'm not actually coping very well at the mo.

but we have had changes in circumstances and this og has been hard with a toddler to look after. I am alsohaving therapy for serious low self estem and so I can see why I'm not coping at the mo and think that I would be coping even less without them.
Obviously there is always a risk with taking any sort of antidepressant whilst pg or bf but having been told that this is one of the safest and weighing p the fact that if I wasn't taking it I may not be able to properly care for my children then I think I have made the right decision to keep taking it. BTW DD2 had no adverse effects from me taking it whilst pg and bf her.

oh and no I don't feel you are prying at all, I don't mind talking about my situation at all especially if it helps someone else

That's my problem, I also remember still struggling even when taking them but you are then scared to stop them in case it's worse. I also feel that they stopped me feeling happy too because they evened out the emotions so that I didn't experience any joyful feelings either. It's so hard to judge though because life was so very different before children.
Thanks for sharing!
