If your children get eczema on their faces, what do you use on it?

Ds is going through a bad eczema patch at the moment. He's getting nasty patches around his mouth and cheeks. I'm moisturising it every day and after he's had the cream on, it looks much better but by the end of the school day, it's starting to go all crusty and red and sometimes even bleeds.

What do you use on eczema on the face?

(am wondering if I should send some cream in to school)

I had bad eczema myself as a child (cleared up with first pregnancy for some reason). You might try hydrocortisone ointment. Because it leaves a slightly greasy layer it makes it difficult to scratch the eczema. Also it then provides a barrier so the skin doesn't dry out.

IMPORTANT
When the rash clears up you must keep applying cream, not necessarily the hydrocortisone as you don't want too much of that on your face. Your skin is made up of lots of layers. The external layers can heal and look normal again but the underlying layers are still damaged and the rash will come back very quickly.
