Abdominal split 10 months post birth

I'm 10 months post birth and my stomach muscles still haven't knitted together. I think the split is 1-2 fingers.
Should I go to the Drs? I thought it might have naturally sorted itself out by now. :( I used to do pilates and have a cd to do at home, but am worried about doing further damage.
Halp?

I'd go to the doctors and see if he can recommend physio (I've seen that some mum's on here have managed to get it). Otherwise, google Diastasis recti and "exercises". You can do traditional ab work like crunches or anything that will make your stomach pooch out, but there are some pilates and yoga exercises that help. I've gotten mine down from 5 fingers to about 1.

So it is fixable at this late stage? That's good to knoe. I've been worrying my stomach is going to fall out ;)

Well for me I don't think it's entirely fixable without surgery. But I've gotten it to a space where I feel comfortable. (unless I spend the day drinking beer and look really really bloated. Luckily that's not often).

Thank you.

I still have this 15 month post birth Sad. I'm doing a Pilates class and the teacher gives me pointers. I know there is something called the mutu system that deals with the 'mum tum'. I've been to the dr twice about it and they weren't that interested either time.

My DC is now 2 and a half. I went back in to the GP last week and she told me "they" are very reluctant to do surgery. It seems more exercise is the way forward. At what point that stops being the answer I don't know. I presume it is classed as more of a cosmetic issue.

My drs are pretty good at referring to physio so fingers crossed I get an appt. I'm a bit concerned about what will happen if we have another baby...

I'm only as bad as I am now because I had two 10+lbs boys and I'm not surprised by the outcome, when they moved, they moved! Surprised one of them didn't break one of my ribs!

The muscles splitting is a natural thing to happen if you watch one of those little videos of sped up baby growth and see where all your organs end up it seems an obvious progression, but if another baby did anything that couldn't be fixed by physio and general exercise I'm certain they would fix it for you.
