Poor you - it is truly miserable having a cold when you are pregnant.

I used to drink home-made honey and lemon - basically the juice and rind of half a lemon, mixed with hot water and honey to taste. It soothes the throat nicely.

Another tip for sore throat/cough is calpol. If you are prepared to take a tiny amount of paracetemol then gargle with a small amount of calpol which is a fairly low dose but does numb the throat a bit.

Lots of baths help calm down the temperature and the nasal irritation.

Peppermint tea used to soothe the throat sometimes and clear the airways a bit.

not sure you should have echinacea when pregnant... but not 100% sure...
fresh ginger and lemon in hot water will help your throat.
hope you feel better - get lots of sleep.
good luck with your labour. x

poor you!...i think you've got what i had..

the only thing i had was paracetamol when i was pg thru my pg and loads of baths/shower to help to unblock the nasal and plenty of water. Also for sore throat was Dentyl - its a fab mouthwash and works brilliant but its does hurt at first

Oh God I know how you feel I had one at 40 weeks!
Paractamol but space it carefully so you can benefit when you need it most (ie when you go to bed). In between a bit of neat lavander oil on your temples really eases headaches. Otherwise stew fresh lemon and ginger in water for a good strong brew and add some honey. Try steaming too, get a bowl of boiling water and stick you head over it covered by a towel and inhale the steam to really help clear you passages.

bless you all, thankyou

got calpol, got, lemons, got honey, got lavendar oil. am going to do the whole lot! (hankering after a slug of whisky but sure that's not wise)

am comforting myself with the thought that labour is unlikely to start till i've rid myself of it (i'm so not ready) and maybe i'm just getting a good clearout as it were.

hippystuff don't be alarmed it really does work, I have been expecting or bf for the last 6 years and had to find something that was safe, I now use it as a preventative for colds but it does a very good job of clearing all the goo if you all ready have a cold. I also get bad hayfever and it washes all the pollen out. I have tried both the neti and the nasopure and found the nasopure easier and more powerful for swishing the nose.....
If you find it all a bit too alarming try 'sterimar' in most pharmacies, i think you have to ask for it, it is basically a posh version of the above as a nasal saline solution. Doctors will sometimes advise for these if your baby has a bad cold. If your baby to be gets a cold I would also suggest a nasal aspirator (also known as a bulb) it sucks the snoot out!
