Blood in dd's urine but no sign of infection

Dd had blood in her urine on Thursday night, saw an emergency doctor who gave her antibiotics and took a urine sample as he thought it was just an infection. She's had more blood since, although not as much, it's still stinging when she wees, and she's sore most of the time.

Results today are clear - there's no infection. So now I'm panicking, because if it's not an infection then what is it? I have an appointment with the GP for her tomorrow but could do with some reassurance that it could be nothing at all. I won't Google because I'll scare myself stupid, but wondered if anyone had experienced this and it been just one of those things?

They are useless. I've never bothered changing before, but now that it's dd being messed around and not just me and dh, I will be looking for a new practice, I think.

Sorry for being such a wimpy wussy worry-wort when it's not likely to be anything too nasty. And thanks, all.

Let us know how you get on, WWB.

gawd woman, you're not being a wimpy wussy worry wort. Nothing worse than something like this involving bits of the body you can't even see! Let us know what the doctor says tomorrow.

WigWamBam · 15/01/2007 14:38

I will.

Thanks

Just to let you know that about a year ago took my DD to emergancy gp who diagnosed a water infection as there was blood in her urine and it hurt her to wee. asked me to take a sample to my gp which came back clear. She has been fine since. HTH

WigWamBam · 15/01/2007 16:07

That's reassuring - thank you.

WWB - only just seen this and sorry no advice but hope you get an answer soon for your dd.

JackieNo · 16/01/2007 09:48

Hope it goes OK today WWB.

Thanks for thinking of us.

The surgery cancelled the appointment. The GP we were meant to be seeing isn't actually in today, and someone has booked him a full morning's surgery which they've had to ring around and cancel.

We have been squeezed in to see him first thing on Thursday morning, after I stamped my foot, threw my toys out of the pram, and refused to wait until next week to see someone.

Oh FGS - how very frustrating for you. So you'll be moving surgeries asap, then? How is she feeling? Still in pain when she wees?

WigWamBam · 16/01/2007 13:20

She's still sore and it still stings when she wees, but she says it's not as bad as it was. And she's fine in herself.

Once we've dealt with this I shall be changing surgeries as soon as I can. They have never been brilliant, but it seems more important now that it's affecting dd.

Glad she's coping with it. But for you. How are you doing?

WigWamBam · 16/01/2007 13:24

Oh, I'm OK, thanks for asking. Worried about her, probably more than it deserves, but not so panicky as I was yesterday. Been taking it out on food again, which is not the best way to deal with it!

Maybe not, but don't sweat it - it's a question of priorities, and when you're coping with stuff like that just getting through it is the main thing, without beating yourself up about how you're doing it.
