What is the best way to describe someone "post cancer"

I HATE cancer victim/surviver

Is there a better way to decsribe someone who has got through it and out the other side?

My Dad used to say 'had' cancer, or 'was in remission'.

oh Issymum - I so agree with you on that! dh's mum died of cancer and any implication that your experience of cancer is somehow a result of your own moral strengths really offends him. (on a slightly different note, to whihc I think you might relate, I also get annoyed by teh standard interpretation of "brave" and "fighting" in the context of ill health. imo it's a much harder decision to take to your bed for a few days because you know that's what your body needs and maybe that's best all round - for you and family - than to go yomping around the lake district cos that's what you want...but who gets the praise and respect?)

Thank you Hatwoman! I see that 'brave fight against cancer' phrase all the time, even on the BBC News and I'm pleased to know that I'm not the only one who objects to it.
