Can asthma cause an itchy back?! :/

Hi,
Bit of a weird one....
Whenever my chest is playing up i get an itchy back. The worst my chest is, the itchier my back. Right in the centre, pretty much where a bra hooks up.
I did ask my asthma nurse at my last review but she had no idea.
I have had asthma all my life but this started about 6 months ago.
I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Or have any idea why it happens?

The only thing I can think of is if your asthma flaring up is in response to an allergen that also irritates your skin?

Yes I get this. Itchy back is always first sign of asthma for me. Always has been.

I'll just have to suck it up and go to the GP. Its odd that it inly started to happen recently.

Does it fit in with Notalgia Paresthetica symptoms? The article says there's a link to autoimmune conditions such as asthma. Lots of other info on the web.
I'm celiac, also got other autoimmune problems, and get a very itchy back sometimes, always in exactly the same spot, nothing to be seen. Scratching with a back brush feels lovely for a few seconds but doesn't help. What works for me is doing back stretching/posture exercises, trying to move the muscles in the area where the itch is.

Had this for a year, thank you all so much for posting the question and for you lovely posters for answering it.
I do have a degenerative spinal condition so that explains it.

Maybe get iron checked too? Anaemia can cause unexplained itching.

I recently discovered I do have asthma (not allergic to thing though, viral and smoke flares it up plus possibly hormones) and I've always had a very itchy chin/ neck when it's flaring (now I know it's asthma).

I have asthma and when it flares up I get itchy around the side of my chest and under my arms. My asthma is linked to hay fever and other allergies so I think I'm just generally a bit atopic when I'm wheezy. Piriton works well but can make you quite drowsy (the non drowsy stuff has absolutely zero effect on me).

BlackMarigold that is so interesting! I also have an itchy patch exactly like that describes. I'd put it down to allergies (as I said, I'm quite atopic I general). I have a special fork to scratch it with

I get an itchy back too. Always in same spot. Am slightly asthmatic - allergic to cats but manage to avoid them usually. Never connected my itchy back to allergies. I get hayfever too.

I have a back scratcher. Mine usually starts in the evening.

If I scratch the itchy spot it feels great for a few seconds then starts to hurt, not on the skin but underneath.
Found some research about exercises that help, rowing type movements which lower the shoulder blades and bring them together so I do that instead of scratching which seems to work. Or maybe just distracts me till the itching stops on its own .

I have low iron, hayfever and allergic to anuthing with fur :/ but it is only recently that the itching has started.
I will go get it checked out just to ne on the safe side
