had an op yesterday under general anaesthetic. hurt quite a lot when the tube was taken out but today i can barely move it. is this common does anyone know? ironically, my nose (which was operated on) doesn't hurt a bit!

mine was quite bruised and sore for a bit whenever I had had drips in. Think it depends on how gentle they are.

Is the site where your line was in red or inflammed at all? Could be a local infection.

mine have always been very peinful after, even have 4 small white scars on the back of my left hand where i have had anaesthetics and also sedation (had last ops under a local, much better then being put to sleep). Thunderpants hope it was nothing serious you had done.

I agree with the armadillo - did you see how thick the tube was and how much has to be pushed into your vein? No surprises anyone is sore for a few days.

My hand was painful to move/grip for a few days.

thanks all - seems a bit better this morning. it was sooo painful last night I was beginning to think it was infected, but as it's improved I think it's ok now. Only a minor op, thanks for asking, to have septum straightened. (not for cosmetic reasons but so my sinuses can drain properly)

Mine was agony for days Thunderpants, but not in an infected way. I sometimes think the line is the worst part of it all (am left handed and forgot only once to ask for it to be sited in my right hand)
It does get better and I hope your nose does too.

thanks marina it's much better today; in fact so much better that it's hard to believe how painful it was.
