Took DD to drs yesterday as she had a foot infection. Didnt get to see the dr I normally see but wasnt overly concerned as it was a lady dr. For quite awhile (probably over a year) I have been concerned for my DD(shes almost 13) Very self conscious, shy etc. when she gets like this, she picks her face, makes it very scabby- I have tried ignoring, praising and dare I say scream at her. I mentioned this to dr and the response I got really shocked me- she asked DD was this a problem (obviously she said no!) dr looked at me and said I see you child protection issues( we did have over 4yrs ago for 9mths while I had PND) Do you want her to see a child phychiatrist? No Ireplied just thought she needed someone to talk to! Do you think this dr was in the wrong for mentioning about child protection whilst DD was in the room(obviously DD doesnt know anything about CP).

As your dd was almost 13 i`d say thats very inconsiderate of the gp .A breech of confidentiality and against the law ! Never mind the awkward position it has put you in with your DD .
I would write a letter to practice manager and maybe this gp will have a think about the way she dealt with the consultation.
Could you see your usual gp or practice nurse to discuss DD face picking. It could be a nervous thing. Have you ignored it for a while ? DD2 had a stammer for a while and i completely ignored it and made a supreme effoer to boost her self confidence and sense of worth ect. This did the trick and never looked back.Sometimes making something like that an issue could cause further problems.Good luck and let us know x

I'd write a letter of complaint to the practice manager - the least you deserve is an apology IMHO
