Diffificulty passing urine

My DD is 15 months and when I had her it was difficult labour I had an epidural and ended up being torn and cut with 3rd degree tear. I was not incontinent afterwards but do find it difficult sometimes passing urine, I manage to go but always feel like there is a bit more but it just wont come out and when I stand up it feels like it will then and sometimes does a little! I get a numb feeling there sometimes (a bit like a trapped nerve- strange to describe) just wondered if this may have been the epidural as there are long term side effects or is it my pelvic floors? Does anyone else get this?

Hello
Perhaps you have a slight prolapse of your uterus and it's pushing on your bladder. That might cause incomplete emptying of wee. Check it out with your GP.

Ahh, I did not even think about that. I have never spoke to the dr about it, I just presumed it was a post pregnancy thing and would eventually get better.
Do they have to insert something to correct a prolapse?

Thanks for advise. Have to make drs appt anyway.

If your problem is related to a weak pelvic floor, I believe 'downstairs' exercises are usually recommended as first line treatment.

I'm sure other people have experience of this and will be able to help you.

you should go to your doctors, and try and get specialised physiotherapy to retrain your pelvic floor. I live in Belgium where it is standard for women to have ten sessions with a physio post childbirth for exactly this reason., and it does help.
