Our DD who is 1 nwxt week has sudeenly decided that she is not really fussed about milk. Shhe does like it but when she wants to drink it. She drinks lots of water out of her cup but refuses to drink milk out of it. Now she is finally out of our room she is not getting her night bottle when we go to bed as we don't disturb her and has refused a bed time bottle since she learnt to crawl, far more exciting. She sometimes has a bottle in morning but sometimes doesn't. She has a healthy appetite and I try to include yougurts and cheese and is a healthy 1 year old. Should I be worried or chould I find a clacium supplement?

I think they need a pint a day at 1+. Try sneaking it into mash etc. Don't quote me on that though. x

Doesn't the pint a day include it being used in cooking and on cereal though?

DD was like this. I used to put 8oz on her cereal in the morning, and added milk to all her food. She had lots of things with cheese sauce on it and, like you, I gave her yoghurts etc. I can't remember the exact amount they are supposed to be having though.

Thanks all. Will try her back on cereal again as ahe has been going through 'I will only eat what I can feed myself' in the mornings!

wouldnt worry,my ds hasnt had milk since 3months hes now 2.3. did have a calcium supplement but a nightmare to get in him so he doesnt have that now either. he is quite dinky but the paed and doctors said its nothing to do with lack of calcium.he gets it from no where else because he has no dairy. i do worry that long term his bones/teeth could be affected but not a lot i can do really

Neither of my dds drank milk after they were weaned at 1 year old. Both have other dairy products and I don't worry about quantifying them. (Not many children will refuse milk chocolate!) Dds are aged 12 and 10 now - both healthy and well grown. Also have good teeth (better than mine were at their ages). Dd2 refused milk even on cereal for a long time but she accepted it in the end. In the meantime I put Total yoghourt on fruit for her. I can't remember when she stopped liking TY. Their tastes change all the time. I'm always in trouble for forgetting who likes Edam but not Cheddar and vice versa and who will have pickle in a sandwich ... I sound like the old woman who lived in a shoe but I only have 3 children.
