Been referred...possible cervical cancer

I'm so scared. Been experiencing mid cycle bleeding for a number of months. Had internal scan which showed no fibroids or other abnormalities. Blood tests came back with liver function slightly abnormal but could have been due to taking antibiotics at the time. Doctor has now referred me urgently to gynaecology for 'suspected cancer ' under the two week rule. I'm terrified. Please tell me any experiences you have had and any positive outcomes x

They spoke to me about endometrial ablation once investigations and any subsequent treatment was over. I'm really not keen. I'd almost prefer hysterectomy.

Have you been seen today op? What did they say apart from you needing a hysteroscopy? (Don't think I've spelt that right!!)

MyBeloved · 27/04/2016 08:15

Hi icantstopeatinglol
Yes, I went yesterday. Nothing sinister on surface of cervix but wants to look deeper inside...hence the hysteroscopy. Took a couple of biopsies. She confused me a little. She kept looking at her nails. I'm seeing a different consultant next time as she is away.

Hi ladies, I am having an appt with gynae-oncologist on Friday. Absolutely petrified. Have been ttc for few years and had first lot of bloods and ultra sound and internal scan. I have a cyst in ovary which they want to check, also fluid in my pelvis?? Other ovary my GP suggests is pco but can't confirm. Had CA125 bloods and found out today is level of 36, they like to see 35 and under. GP said the level is consistent with fact I have a cyst so really hoping that's my only worry. Just want Friday and my appt to arrive. Has anyone had a similar experience? X

No experience but bumping got you. Good luck to you and op Smile Flowers

If you have hands clear smear test 3 years ago and "there is nothing sinister on the cervix" as seen during a biopsy/colposcopy, I would think that there is very little chance of cervical cancer.

Re wanting to take "a deeper look" - Has nobody thought of an MRI? Or at least an ultrasound?

Good luck OP.

MyBeloved · 28/04/2016 07:53

I had an ultrasound but apparently that can miss 40% of polyps and other issues - hence them wanting to do the hysteroscopy :s

I know this post is quite old but after a Google search and reading this thread - going through something very similar at the moment. How did everything go Mybeloved in the end?
Trying not to think of the worst so reading all into what could be too convince myself the worst may not happen!

Hi Wild - how are you doing? google brought me here. Having no similar symptoms- mid-cycle smears of blood and now am convincing myself of aches and pains!
