Hi Christina! Thanks for asking after me. I was going to start a new thread a couple of days ago but my problems seemed so insignificant compared with the loss of a child. I actually felt humbled and grateful for all the things I do have. I hope that doesn't come across as trite.
I'm doing OK I think. Christmas and New Year were challenging as I was thrown into a lot of social situations that would have been difficult regardless of hearing ability(drink+families etc). So in a bizarre way it worked to my advantage...I didn't have to get involved!
I've had follow ups from my first male consultant who has apologised again for my experience, which I thought was very decent of him. I've not been getting on so well with the hearing aids. Well, specifically the moulds. I got the second HA fitted and it felt really loud and uncomfortable (noise-wise).
I got new ear moulds for both to replace the loose fitting one, which had been double dipped. After an hour of wearing them I felt like I had two large pebbles in my ears. A few trips to get them re-buffed made no difference as there appears to be an issue with the materials.
I've had about 5 sets of impressions done so far so I'm hoping they'll get them sorted soon. At the moment I have someone else ear-moulds (new ones thankfully) which isn't ideal.
Anyhoo, I hope you had an enjoyable festive season and your family are well and happy. The thread I was going to start was one asking for advice on the Cochlear Implant process. I have my first appointment at Crosshouse hospital in Kilmarnock at the end of January. I'm quite positive about it. Thanks for motivating me!
