ds has just come down with the horrible phlegmy, chesty cough that dd and i are just getting over.

is there anything i can give him/ do for him to make him feel better? he's miserable poor thing and i feel horrible. i have nelsons sootha but it says from 1 year which i presume is because of the honey... although the pharmacist gave it to dd at 10 months and said it would be safe.

aw poor little one - try to elevate the head of the cot so when he sleeps the mucous can drain a bit ...
Olbas oil on a hanky in the cot to try to clear his chest
Also run a sink full of really really hot water and put 10 - 12 drops of olbas oil in and then shut the door for 10 mins before LO has a bath - the steam with the olbas can help loosed mucous
Snot sucker to remove mucous from nose and to stop him swallowing yucky stuff

If it is persistent a dose of antibiotics may be needed but try this stuff first - also medised at night to dry up the snot and if feverish calpol in the day

Pink - agree with taylormama, raise the head of his cot or put towels under the mattress so that he is laid at an angle.

I found Olbas oil too strong so try Karvol which is made for kids - I put in on Molly's cot sheet near her nose.

Also, can you put a bowl of water near the radiator so that when the heating is on, the water evaporates into mild steam so that he's not breathing 'dry' air? This worked for Molly.
