Tummy bug advice - feed or starve?

23 month old ds was sick last night and then agin in the morning but was keen to eat when everyone else had breakfast so he had a small bowl of rice crispies and some toast and jam, he then seemed really bright as if nothing was wrong with him. Put him to bed and he was very sick when he woke up. He is now a little flat but not totally wiped out. Should I not give him anything to eat now to prevent him being sick? He is at the mo asking for a biscuit!

I would leave it for a while. Is he keeping fluids down?
Stay off milk for today too.

He wasn't keeping water down initially but he had a drink about an hour and a half ago and that has not come back up.

I think if they want to eat give them something. if any of it stays down it gives them abit more energy to fight the bug. you have my sympathy its a misery.

standard procedure for sicky tummybugs in the evil household is no food all day, only water to sip, then, if no being sick by teatime, a piece of dry toast, then, if ok in the night, normal eating may be resumed! i know it sounds way, way harsh, but was recommended to me by a nurse and rarely have the bugs stuck around for more than 24 hours. its really really difficult to explain to teeny ones why they can't have any food, but we say that if we feed the bugs in their tummy then the bugs will be happy and want to stay, so they will be sicker for longer. if we starve the nasty bugs, then they'll get bored and leave!
good luck

Oh dear, between posts I gave hima piece of toast and now he is back in bed so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'll remember that advice for next time though. Thanks

strange but I have discovered through working in spain having lots of bugs and now a mum of two, plus DH, LEMONADE with sugar, I found water comes back up or out where as lemonade seems to sort out the thirst plus it stays put. only a suggestion.
